Two watercolor on paper paintings of tropical scenes.1st item: Sir Hugh Casson (United Kingdom, 1910-1999) small scale watercolor landscape depicting a view of the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, Florida with figures along the shoreline in the foreground. Signed "HC" lower right and titled "The Breakers Hotel – Palm Beach" lower left. Attribution en verso. Housed in a giltwood Louis XIV style frame with a wood stand. Sight: 3 1/8" H x 6 1/2" W. Framed: 5 1/2" H x 8 1/2" W. Note: A supplemental letter attached en verso explains that Casson painted this on his visit to Palm Beach years ago. 2nd item: Watercolor painting of a home's porch and garden depicting foliage, palm trees, assorted plant life, and furniture. Signed Illegibly lower right possibly "S…k-Killsh…'45". Housed in a painted frame with a mat. Sight: 11 3/8" H x 15 3/8" W. Framed: 17 1/4" H x 21 1/8" W, Note: This work probably features Margaret Robert's home "Casa Alva" in Palm Beach, FL., once owned by the Vanderbilt family, and may have been painted during the Vanderbilt family's residence there.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Margaret Harold Roberts, Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
CONDITION: 1st item: Overall good condition with light wear to frame. 2nd item: Some buckling to paper, work is adhered to mat with duct tape on the reverse side, mat with toning/acid burn, frame with light wear.
