Early Regency large octagonal toleware serving tray, hand-painted with horses, hounds and hares. The center depicts two horses in a barn, one white, the other brown, together with a worker who is grooming the brown horse while he eats hay. The canted sides are decorated with dogs chasing hares through a landscape setting. 21 1/2" H x 29" W. English, early 19th century.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. Some lifting to one handle surround. Center with some areas of light abrasions and oxidattion, lower left quadrant, rear of white horse and straw area that white horse is standing upon. A few small old repainted areas of loss. Minor wear and losses to paint on sides, especially near the handles.
