Kentucky Sheraton cherry sugar chest, poplar secondary, having a rectangular post and panel case with three-quarter depth hinged top with breadboard ends and molded lip, single dovetailed drawer with wooden pulls, and brass keyhole escutcheons, all on tall turned feet. Interior divider is missing. Found in the Lexington, KY area. 36 1/4" H x 28 1/4" W x 16 7/8" D. Second quarter of the 19th century. CONDITION: Older refinish and original divider lost. Drawer sides with some buildup, losses to dovetails on right drawer side. Top with some stains and losses to underside edge. Hole drilled in back of case. Back right leg has repair. General wear to case with some age cracks to wood.
