Eight-gallon double-handled stoneware jar, with large strap handles similar to the potter, George Washington Dunn (Putnam, Tennessee, 1870-1944). Brown to light brown transition glaze, angled rim and incised double line to upper shoulder, incised "8" by one handle denoting capacity, and subtly curved hatch marks to upper body and lower edge of one side. 20 7/8" H. Middle Tennessee, Late 19th/Early 20th century.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. The base has a "in the making" void line in the center of the bottom.
