Alessandra Puppo (Italian, b. 1936), "Isola Al Ritorno dell'Arca," Italian folk art oil on canvas painting depicting Noah's Ark, filled with animals, floating beside an island teeming with pairs of various types of animals, fish and birds. Four human figures (two of them nude) inhabit another nearby island in the background. Signed lower right. Additionally signed and titled en verso. Includes original receipt from the Galleria D'Arte Portofino. Plain white frame with painted white mat and raised sight edge. Sight: 23" H x 31" W. Frame: 30 1/2" H x 38 1/2" W. Note: Alessandra Puppo is known for her naive and colorful landscapes. She studied art with Rafaello Salimbeni and Adriana Pincherle and has lived throughout Europe. Her paintings are in several museums including the Musee d'Art Naif de I'lle de France, Paris; the Musee International de l'art Naif Chateau Ste Helen, Nice; the Luzzara Municipal Museum, Reggio Emilia, Italy; and the Pinacoteca Comunale, Stia, Arezzo.
PROVENANCE: A Nashville, Tennessee Estate.
CONDITION: Overall good condition. 1" scratch with tiny hole lower left edge, near fish; 1" scratch lower right near signature; a few other scattered tiny flakes and scratches along right edge perimeter. A few tiny spots of wear to frame.
