Pair of oil on canvasboard pendant paintings depicting St. Mark’s Square, Venice, as viewed from San Giorgio Maggiore, with boats in the foreground. The paintings portray the scene from slightly different perspectives and under different lighting conditions: one with dark, threatening clouds overhead and the other with a lighter, hazy atmosphere. One signed illegibly lower left. Both housed in gilt and whitewashed frames with cream mattes. Sight: 11 3/8″ H x 8″ W. Framed: 18″ H x 15″ W. Late 19th/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Cincinnati, Ohio estate.
CONDITION: Both paintings in overall good condition with light grime. Signed painting with flaking/paint loss lower right corner, approx. 3/4″ L. Both mattes with scattered staining.
