Rodolfo Agresti (Italian, late 19th/early 20th century) oil on canvas genre scene or tronie depicting a laughing, elderly man wearing a dark blue jacket and bright red necktie who grasps a wine cooler and looks directly at the viewer while seated in a chair with his back to a wall – perhaps in a tavern. Signed in red paint, upper right. Housed in an antique gilded Rococo style carved frame. Sight: 15 3/4" H x 12" W. Frame: 25" H x 21" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Painting is in overall very good condition, with a 1/8" x 1/8" area of white paint spatter on the man's vest. Some minor wear to frame including shrinkage cracking and scuffing to gilt.
