After Luigi Chialiva (Switzerland/France, 1842-1914) oil on canvas pastoral painting depicting a young goatherd seated at the edge of a body of water, playing a flute while two brown, long-haired goats graze and rest nearby. Signed "Chialiva" lower right corner. Housed in a giltwood frame. Sight: 12" H x 14 5/8" W. Framed: 17 1/2" H x 20 1/8" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Pia Stratton, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Minor surface grime. Impressions of stretcher visible to left and right edges. Painting has shifted slightly in frame. Frame with scattered losses to gilt, largest measuring 1/4" x 1".
