Ashbaugh (Ohio, 1875-1969) Impressionist oil on canvasboard painting depicting a country road leading to a cabin situated on the shore of a small lake, surrounded by trees with autumn foliage, rendered in an impasto technique. Signed "W. E. Ashbaugh" lower left. Artist's name inscribed in pencil, en verso. Housed in a gilt wood frame. Sight: 9 3/4" H x 13 3/4" W. Framed: 13 3/4" H x 17 3/4" W.3rd item: Small American School oil on board winter landscape painting depicting a stream receding into the midground flanked by snow-laden banks leading to evergreens and bare trees beneath a crisp blue sky. Illegibly signed, possibly "Neola" or "Neale", lower left. Partial remnants of newspaper or railroad schedule, en verso of backing. Housed in a giltwood frame with flourish corners covered in speckled grey paint with canvas liner. Sight: 7 1/2" H x 9 3/8" W. Framed: 13" H x 15 1/8" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: All items in overall good condition. Winter scene with light grime. Frames with minor areas of wear and loss to gilt.
