American School oil on canvas landscape painting depicting a creek flowing through a forest. Unsigned. Housed in a late giltwood and molded composition floral-textured frame with carved corner ornaments. Sight: 17 1/4 in. H x 13 1/8 in. W. Frame: 26 1/2 in. H x 22 1/2 in. W. Late 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Chattanooga area collection.
CONDITION: Painting in overall good condition, fine craquelure throughout. Frame with several small areas of exfoliation and surface chipping, notably to lower left corner, and several losses to gilding at outer edges.
