Two (2) Bruce Emmett (American, 20th century) oil on canvas illustrations for Ralph Lauren’s Chaps clothing line, 1984. 1st Item: Oil painting of a young man wearing a pink sweater and corduroy pants with sportscoat, standing before a split rail fence in a wheat field alongside 3 hunting dogs. Signed with monogram “BE” and dated 1982 lower left. Artist name and former address inscribed en verso. Housed in a plain oak frame with rounded front edge. Stretcher: 24″H x 40″W. Frame: 25 1/2″ H x 41 1/2″W. Exhibited, Society of Illustrators, New York, circa 1982-83. 2nd Item: Oil painting of a young man wearing a blue sweater and jeans with wool sportscoat, sitting on a stone wall beside a pair of hunting dogs, in a field of wheat. Signed and dated 1984 lower left. Housed in a plain oak frame with rounded front edge. Stretcher: 24″ H x 40″ W. Frame: 25 1/2″ H x 41 1/2″ W.
PROVENANCE: Private Middle Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Both items in overall very good condition. 1st item with some small abrasions at lower left and lower right corners and a few scattered inclusions. Some wear and small losses to frame. 2nd item with a small patched tear upper left quadrant, in wheat. Some extraneous dark paint flecks near the same area. Some wear to frame.
