Two (2) etchings on laid paper after Jaques Callot (French, 1592-1635), Christ as Salvator Mundi and Mary as Mater Dei. Both face the viewer, with vignettes from their lives, deaths, and Christ’s resurrection to lower left and right. Reverse copies after etchings from Callot’s series The Large Standing Apostles, Representing The Savior, The Blessed Mary, and the Apostles. Titled Salvator Mundi and Mater Dei, lower centers, and numbered 1 and 2, lower right corners. Both housed under glass in giltwood frames with cream mats. Both sights: 5 1/2 in. H x 3 1/2 in. W. Both frames: 13 1/8 in. H x 11 1/8 in. W.
PROVENANCE:
The estate of James Drury, Lombard, Illinois.
CONDITION:
Both etchings in overall very good condition. Mater Dei with approximately 1/4 inch tear to upper left and a few spots of foxing. Not examined out of frames.
