Pair (2) Eutrope Bouret (France, 1833-1906) Neoclassical gilt bronze figural candelabra depicting barefooted women dressed in belted togas and headpieces, holding a feather fan in one hand, and raising a torch in the other which contains a five-armed candelabra. Shaft and arms with sheaf-of-wheat foliate accents terminating in bobeches with swag decoration; surmounted by spherical, urn form finial with additional bobeche; all mounted on a black slate plinth base with gilt egg-and-dart foliate band and bracket feet. Signed "Bouret" to base of figures. Both approx. 31 3/8" H x 10 1/4" dia.
PROVENANCE: Collection of a Nashville Physician.
CONDITION: Both items in overall good condition with minor bending to arms and finial bobeches. One with minute crack to fan handle measuring 1/8" L, errant bronze swarf at back of base, and minor chip to slate measuring 1/8" x 3/8".
