Small East Tennessee stoneware pottery preserving jar with channeled rim to hold lid and sine wave incising around the upper shoulder. Associated old iron lid with painted green finial is a close fit and may have originally served as the lid for this piece. Mort family pottery of Jefferson Co., TN. 10" H (w/out lid). 11 3/8" H (w/ lid). Third quarter of the 19th century. Condition: Overall very good condition, shallow chip to rim edge. Iron lid likely not original.
