New England or Mid-Atlantic dower chest, white pine, rectangular form. Comprised of top having breadboard ends, case with exposed dovetails, over false front dovetailed drawer resembling three individual drawers. Interior fitted with till having a pull out drawer. Case resting on front bun feet and back bracket feet. 27 1/4" H x 43 1/4" W x 22 1/8" D. Circa 1840. CONDITION: Age/shrinkage crack to top, scattered wear and abrasions throughout. Chewing or heavy abrasions front right corner. Knobs on lower drawer not present.
