Two (2) English George III inlaid mahogany tea caddies, both with inlaid navette shape reserves featuring flying insect decoration to lids, including one (1) octagonal form with additional geometric inlay to lid, foliate oval inlay to body, and an internal lid with line inlay and pull handle (5 1/4" H x 7 3/4" W x 4 3/4" D); and one (1) square form with domed lid, with satinwood inlays, oval shell inlay to body, and interior lid with brass pull and illegible inscription (5 1/8" H x 4 5/8" W x 4" D). Both items first quarter of 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Tina McWhorter Trust; from the collection of John and Tina McWhorter, Memphis, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Both with minor scattered age splits and wear to veneer. Both with scattered losses to foil lining. Octagonal caddy with minor warping to inner lid. Domed lid caddy with glue residue to lid.
