Japanese Meiji period Satsuma porcelain censer, square form having parcel gilt and enameled decoration depicting birds in a foliate landscape setting, fan-shaped handles, and bracket feet. Maker's seal on the base. 7 1/4" H. Note: Originally purchased in 1965 at the retail shop of G. Mohidin & Son, Srinagar, Kashmir.
PROVENANCE: Property of a Tennessee Religious Institution.
CONDITION: Overall light craquelure to the glaze, minor scattered wear to decoration, primarily to neck of censer, handles, feet, and maker's seal.
