Gilt bronze tantalus case or reliquary vitrine with beveled glass panels and mirrored base, mounted with lamb's tongue and egg-and-dart edging, ribbon and swag decorated escutcheon, and four foliate form feet. Unmarked. Retains key and additional gilt wreath and ribbon decoration piece (unattached). 10 3/4" H x 13 1/8" W x 10 5/8" D. European, late 19th/early 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private West Tennessee Collection.
CONDITION: Scattered minor oxidation to bronze. Scattered minor wear and fleabites to glass, including loss to upper right corner of front panel measuring 1/4" x 1/4". Mirror with scattered desilvering.
