Pair of British walnut Chippendale side chairs, straight crest rails with lobate shaping below and carved paperscrolls at the ears, pierced and carved back splats with eight voids, straight seat rails with molded seat edges, straight legs withmolded outer corners, front, back and side stretchers and upholstered slip seats. Condition – Old break and repair to crest rail, back left style and both rear feet patched and tipped to one chair, measures 35 1/4" H x 19 1/4" W x 16 3/4"D. Old break and repair to base of back slat and patches and tip to left rear leg to the other, measures 35 1/2 x 19 1/4" W x 16 3/4" D. Both with overall general wear one slightly shorter than the other. Circa 1745 – 1785. Note: Documented by MESDA, 7/21/1983, reference number S-11886.
