Large sine wave incised East Tennessee stoneware storage jar, sine wave incising around shoulder, lug handles. Similar in form to one of the Mort jars in the current Tennessee Turned Exhibition ad the East Tennessee History Museum. Mort family of Jefferson Co., TN. 15 3/4" H. Third quarter of 19th century. Condition: Red clay is evident beneath chips to rim and handles due to firing problems. Glaze wear with some old stabilized cracks to bottom.
