Continental school oil on canvas three-quarter portrait painting of a woman in attired in a white dress and blue sash, with powdered hair and green eyes, against a background with landscape details. Unsigned. Housed in a Rococo-style giltwood frame. Sight: 29 1/2" H x 23" W. Framed: 36 1/2" H x 30 1/2" W. Late 18th/early19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Peggy Lambert, Maryville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Painting has an old lining. Restoration includes filling losses and retouching paint layer to larger areas of loss on the right side of blouse and lower centers, largest area 1 1/2". Craquelure and scattered areas of retouching throughout visible under UV light inspection.
