Two (2) small French School oil paintings depicting young women. 1st item: Impressionist style oil on canvas painting depicting two bathers on the lush bank of a pond as one dresses while her companion rubs her foot. Partially legible signature in red lower left, possible "Savasol". Housed in a later molded giltwood frame with canvas liner and gilt sight edge. Sight: 7 1/2" H x 5 1/2" W. Framed: 12 3/4" H x 10 3/4" W. 2nd item: Realist style oil on panel painting depicting a recumbent woman in a yellow satin wrap relaxing on a pillow-laden bed before a thick green curtain. Unsigned. Housed in a painted molded giltwood frame with red-stained back edge. Sight: 5 7/8" H x 10 1/2" W. Framed: 8" H x 12 5/8" W. Both items late 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Edward Laudermilk, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Craquelure to upper left quadrant. Minor flakes to paint layer at lower left corner and lower right edge, largest measuring 1/4" x 3/8". Slight surface grime throughout. 2nd item: Scattered flakes to paint layer in upper half, primarily to background curtain, largest measuring 1/8" x 1/2". Minor scattered surface scratches. Slight surface grime throughout.
