Continental School oil on canvas cabinet painting of an elegant, seated woman who wears a gold colored gown and holds a sprig of wildflowers before an idyllic natural setting, with a column to her left bearing indecipherable initials, possibly JM, JFM, or JTM. Cumberland Art Conservation, Nashville, TN conservation report affixed en verso to backing. Housed in an ebonized giltwood frame with Dutch corners and finial bearing the initial L. Sight: 13 1/4" H x 11" W. Frame: 17 13/16" H x 15 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Edward Laudermilk, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Extensive craquelure throughout. Inpainting to right hand and dress between hands, largest area measuring 3/8" x 1/4". Painting has been lined.
