Veniero Canevari (Italy, 1926-1988) oil on panel Surrealist painting depicting a clown or performer balanced upside down on one hand against a checkered floor and blue background. Signed "V. Canevari" lower left. Float mounted in a simple gilt frame with silk brocade frieze and gilt filet. Sight: 19 1/2" H x 9 3/4" W. Framed: 27 1/2" H x 15" W.
CONDITION: A few scattered areas of retouching, largest 1 1/2" L, visible under UV light inspection. Some errant grime, one light area of abrasion in upper corner, and one scratch extending from top edge to upper center of work.
