Dan F. Howard (American, b. 1931) expressionist-style oil on canvas painting, titled "Royal Family", executed in an impasto technique, depicting three noblemen in Renaissance clothing adorned with medallion pendants rendered in a cacophony of geometrically patterned colors with an indistinct landscape visible through a window in the background to the left. Signed "Dan F. Howard", titled, and dated "5-17-60" with additional accession number inscription, en verso of stretcher. Housed in a wooden frame with protruding sight edge. Sight: 36 3/4" H x 53 3/4" Framed: 40 1/2" H x 58" W.
PROVENANCE: Deaccessioned by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Foundation to benefit the acquisitions fund.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Frame with scattered surface wear, particularly to extended sight edge, and minor loss to top edge, measuring 3/4" x 1/4".
