John Strickland Goodall (United Kingdom, 1908-1996) watercolor, gouache, and graphite on paper painting titled "The Sudden Shower" depicting figures attired in Victorian clothing running along a beach with umbrellas to escape a sudden thunderstorm. Signed "John S Goodall" lower left. Titled on label affixed en verso from David S. Ramus, Ltd. Atlanta, GA. Float mounted in a contemporary giltwood frame with an off-white mat under glass. Sight: 7 1/4" H x 10" W. Framed: 16 1/2" H x 19" W.
PROVENANCE: Property from the Collection of Jo Ann Cline Yates, Lookout Mountain Tennessee. Purchased in 1986 from The Hunter Museum of Art, Chattanooga, TN, Spectrum Art Auction. A copy of the original receipt will be made available to the winning bidder.
