Civil War related military map: "Sketch Showing the Relative Positions of Fort Henry and Fort Donelson, Feb. 1862," issued by the U.S. War Department circa 1875, ref. Stephenson, #415. 15-3/4" x 21-1/4" image, sheet 18-1/2" x 24". Note: In the 1860s and 1870s, the War Department issued lithographed maps made from hand drawn maps its engineers had drawn during the war. These relatively rare maps were loose sheets of various sizes, not part of atlases or books, although some of them were similar to the maps issued in official reports. Many of them served as the basis for the maps in the official Civil War Atlas published in the 1890s. Condition: Light margin creasing. Condition: Light margin creasing.
