Middle Tennessee crazy quilt top comprised of multicolor velvets, silks, damasks, cut velvet, and velvet ribbon. Embroidered images in multicolor cotton thread depicting typical crazy quilt designs, including flowers, geese, a rooster, fish, a butterfly, a teacup and saucer, an umbrella, a fan, and a cross. Initialled N.L.F. Hand pieced and embroidered, and not quilted. The quilt blocks are joined by a sewing machine. “E. T. Noel’s Best Flour, Nashville, TN, 24 lbs.” and “Nashville Mill Company” flour sacks are used for the foundation of the crazy quilt blocks. 70in x 80in. Circa 1900.

CONDITION:
Fabric deterioration throughout, primarily to silk fabrics. Repair patches visible in upper right corner. Hangiing loops attaches to the top for display.
