Signed and dated "M. Grixoni 1917" in red lower right corner. Inscribed "Colonel House by the Count Grixoni", en verso. Housed in a giltwood frame with reeded and lamb's tongue molding having placard reading "Colonel Edward M. House/Advisor to Pres. Woodrow Wilson/by Count Mario Grixoni/exh. 1914-1940, London" affixed to lower sight edge. Sight: 37 3/8" H x 27 3/8" W. CONDITION: 1st item: Two minute areas of indention to the canvas at upper right corner. Minute scattered areas of inpainting to upper left edge and above subject's left shoulder. Stretcher indention evident at upper edge. Minute errant surface material lower left corner. 2nd item: Photographic print is in excellent condition. Black section of frame is unevenly painted, photo is loose in frame, and some hardware on backing is missing.
