John N. Wiltshire (Manchester/Middle TN, 1904-1981) carved folk art limestone sculpture depicting an owl. Initialed on the base JNW. 7 in. H x 5 1/4 in. W. Biographical Note: Self-taught artist John Nathan Wiltshire created carvings from stones found in Manchester, TN-area creek beds. During his life, his sculptures were included in exhibitions at the Smithsonian Institute, Washington, DC, and at the Cheekwood Art Museum, Nashville.
