Edward “Ted” Faiers (Canadian/American/Memphis, 1908-1985), “The Emperor on a White Throne,” titled lower left margin in pencil and numbered 1/10; signed lower right margin and dated 1975. Matted and framed under glass in a gold metal frame with black acrylic wraps. Sight: 27 5/8 in. W x 20 in. H. Frame: 34 1/2 in. W x 27 in. H. Note: English-born Ted Faiers grew up in Western Canada, was educated at the Art Students League in New York, and taught for more than three decades at the Memphis College of Art. He is known for his abstract works inspired by his mentor Wil Barnet and by Indian space painters, whose forms, colors and patterns recall traditional Native American pottery and weavings.
