1st item: Continental, possibly Italian School, oil on board genre painting depicting a provincial man and woman attempting to retrieve a cat, gripping a shoe or fish in its mouth, from a rocky ledge above the river. Behind the couple is a shepherdess with her flock before a stable, with a village, bridge, and mountains in the background. Signed DULAC lower right. Housed in a Rococo-style pierced giltwood frame with swept edges. Sight: 13 5/8" H x 18 5/8" W. Framed: 26 5/8" H x 31 5/8" W. 19th century. 2nd item: Watercolor painting depicting a gondola and other boats traversing a Venetian canal, with the Basilica of San Giorgio Maggiore in the background, all under a hazy sky. Housed and matted under glass in a giltwood molded frame with olive mat and gilt fillet. Sight: 7 1/4" H x 18 1/8" W. Framed: 14 7/8" H x 25 3/8" W. Both items late 19th century.
CONDITION: 1st item: Slight surface grime. Minor scattered abrasion to paint layer, primarily to sky, largest area measuring 1/2" x 1/8". 2nd item: Minute scattered areas of foxing to paper. Minute inclusions beneath glass. Not examined outside of frame.
