George III style paint decorated and parcel gilt credenza or cabinet, blockfront top with painted griffin and foliate decoration, over a conforming frieze with circle and rosette decoration. Front features two central doors with oval vignettes enclosing classical grisaille painted scenes of beauties with cherubs, after Angelica Kauffman; opening to reveal two interior shelves. The doors are flanked by two tapering columns with gilded ram’s head mask capitals, all atop a band of acanthus and bead molding and a plinth base. 38″ H x 78 3/4″ W x 13 1/4″ D. English or Continental late 19th century. CONDITION: Some losses to applied gilt decoration and some exfoliation on painted vignette panels. Overall general wear and paint loss, particularly to plinth base.
