American coin silver cream jug with stag and fox hunt decoration, marked for Geradus Boyce, working New York, c. 1814-1854. The elaborate decoration depicts a fox hunter on horseback jumping over a fence, and a gentleman with bow and arrow shooting a stag, with central cartouche containing two three-letter monograms and a griffin head crest, all engraved on a pear shaped body with flaring rim, C scroll handle, and circular stepped foot ring. Marked G. BOYCE and NY in separate rectangles to underside. 5 3/8"H, 4.81 oz troy.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Excellent condition.
