4 Asian items including three boxes and one duck ornament. 1st item: Large Brass Box with repousse Hindu decoration including a copper Shiva finial to the hinged lid, supported on four round feet. 15"H x 12 1/2"W x 9"D. 2nd item: Asian white metal box or tea caddy with hinged lid, shield, and floral decoration engraving on the hinged lid, canted corners, and unidentified hallmarks to the underside. 3"H x 5 1/2"W x 3 3/4"D. 3rd item: Takamakie lacquered Japanese glove box with gilt enameled rat and grapevine decoration to the exterior, the interior containing an enameled duck ornament with brass clip (3 1/2"L). Box: 9"L x 1 1/4"H x 4 1/2"D. 20th century or earlier.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: 1st item: Oxidation, scattered small losses, and some patches visible to interior. Lacking two side finials to lid. Shiva finial possibly not original. 2nd item: 1/4" spot of corrosion to lid. Scattered dents and scratches. 3rd item: Lacquer box has cracking to one side of box base and losses to bottom. Lid in overall good condition with single hairline crack to one side of lid and some very light wear to top. 4th item: very good condition.
