Mildred C. Jones (American/Massachusetts,1899-1992) oil on canvasboard genre scene titled "The Prize Winner," depicting a young girl in barn, grooming a large white dairy cow while a man, presumably her father, holds the animal's head. A line of prize ribbons hangs overhead. Signed "Mildred C. Jones" lower right. Molded giltwood frame. Sight – 15 1/2"H x 19 1/2"W. Frame – 19 1/2"H x 23 1/2"W. Biography: Mildred C. Jones was known for her portraits of children, still life and genre views. She was born in Scranton, PA and studied art in Philadelphia and in Paris under Henri Royer. She was a long-time member of the Rockport Art Association (RAA). (Source: Rockport Art Association Yearbook, 1940).

CONDITION: Overall good condition. Some short errant streaks of white paint to upper half of painting, in background.
