Carolina Piedmont region walnut desk and bookcase with yellow pine secondary. Bookcase features ogee cornice molding above two doors with six highly figured walnut panels, interior of bookcase has three adjustable slotted shelves. The desk features a compartmented interior of two large drawers above four smaller drawer, two of which hold secret compartments, over eight cubby holes with large central divided opening. Exterior of desk features graduated beveled and cockbeaded drawers on original ogee bracket feet. 92 3/4" H x 45" W x 20 1/2" D. Late 18th, early 19th Century. Provenance: Collection of Grace Tankersley of Knoxville, Tennessee. Condition: The piece survives in very good condition with old dry surface. Overall the piece has some chipping to all moldings with right side bookcase base molding missing. There has been three sets of hinges on the fall piece. Replaced brasses in old
