Two (2) Kuniyoshi (Japan, 1797/8-1861) color woodblock prints. Item 1: Suruga Jiro Kiyoshige from Meiko hyaku yu den (Stories of a Hundred Heroes), 1844. Housed in a white window mat. Sheet: 13 2.4" H x 9 3/4" W. Mat: 20 1/8" H x 14 1/4" W. 2nd item: Gokumon Shobei and Kurofune Chuemon from Sixty-Nine Stations of the Kisokaido, 1852. With Japanese inscription en verso in black ink. Housed in a cream window mat. Sheet: 14 5/8" H x 10 1/8" W. Mat: 19 1/4" H x 14 1/8" W.
CONDITION: 1st item in overall very good condition, with light soiling especially to edges. Sheet is affixed to backing at corners. 2nd item in overall very good condition, with vivid colors. Sheet has been taped to mat along upper and lower edges. 1/4" dia. circular repairs to blue background near right edge and smaller pinpoint repair to center of red cartouche. With very faint foxing visible to exposed paper, especially to sky within vignette and to lower legs of figure in foreground.
