Attributed to Charles Paul Gruppe (American, 1860-1940) oil on canvas painting depicting a figure dressed in a red coat steering a horse-driven cart along a beach with two sailboats and another group of figures or horses in the background, under an overcast gray sky. Unsigned. Illegible stamp, en verso. Attribution in pen with additional handwritten number label, and title "Dutch Fishermen", en verso of frame. Housed and matted in a molded Rococo-style giltwood frame with gilt fillet. Sight: 9 1/2" H x 7 1/2" W. Frame: 16 7/8" H x 15" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Carl Klein, Brentwood, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall good condition; canvas has been mounted to board.
