1st item: Folding backgammon board, comprised of a rectangular wooden case with inlaid scrolling decoration to the exterior and interior and brass hardware. Includes fifteen (15) white resin and fifteen (15) brown resin round pieces with two (2) brown resin dice and three (3) white resin dice, and two (2) faux brown leather felt-lined throwing cups. Late 19th/early 20th Century. 2nd item: Chinese folding chess board, comprised of a square wooden case with carved images of dragons and bats and brass hardware, a black and white plastic board, the white tiles with colored engraved scenes and characters, with two red felt-lined pull-out drawers, each containing sixteen (16) green soapstone and sixteen (16) black resin carved player figurines. 2 5/8" H x 18" square. 2nd quarter 20th Century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Margaret Harold Roberts, Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with natural age shrinkage, losses, areas of repair, separations to wooden cases. 1st item: Areas of loss, repairs, largest 2 1/4", to inlaid decorations. One dice with hairlines. One throwing cup with area of loss to base. 2nd item: Minor fleabites, surface scratches to player figurines. Fading to colored engraved images. One pull-out drawer does not close all the way.
