Ludwig Graefner (Germany, 1862-1939) bronze sculpture titled "The Falconer" depicting a lithe man dressed in an animal pelt loin cloth hoisting a slain falcon above his head, extending its wings, and standing barefoot on a naturalistic base with rocky terrain; mounted to an irregular hexagonal marble pedestal. Signed "Graefner fec" to base between feet. 23" H x 23 1/2" W x 11" D. Weight: 49 lbs.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Edward Laudermilk, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall excellent condition. Base with scattered surface wear to top from slightly loose fitting of sculpture, including loss measuring 7/8" x 1/4"; scattered natural fissures.
