Eli Terry & Son (Plymouth, Connecticut) carved mahogany mantle or shelf clock, having carved floral basket decoration to the top with carved columns and feet. White and gilt dial with Arabic numerals and gilt Federal shield decoration, the lower door with a print depicting George Washington standing in a hallway with other figures, including Martha Washington, and three dogs. Retains the Eli Terry & Son paper label to the interior. 31 1/2" H x 18" W. Circa 1830s.
PROVENANCE: The collection of a Tennessee institution.
CONDITION: Washington print a later addition to the clock. Light wear to the dial, door with slight losses around the key hole, case with light general expected wear.
