Large Arturo Ricci (Italy, 1854-1919) watercolor and ink on paper genre painting depicting a young couple of nobility descending a palace staircase surrounded by a large carved sculpture partially covered by ornate blue drapery, a smaller nude sculpture, a wall tapestry hanging behind them, a patterned rug under their feet, and a guard bearing a halberd standing at attention. Signed "A Ricci" in red lower right. Housed under glass in a giltwood frame with leaf form flourish corners. Sight: 29 1/2" H x 21 1/2" W. Framed: 33 3/4" H x 26 3/4" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Edward Laudermilk, Nashville, Tennessee. Purchased Roland Auction, NY, Dec. 5, 2020 (lot 0130).
CONDITION: Three minor areas of loss at tassel of drapery and body of guard, largest measuring 1/8" dia. Not examined outside of frame.
