American or British School oil on canvas landscape depicting a fly fisherman standing in rocky stream framed by trees. Large lake with sailboats in background. Possible signature lower left margin, not identified. Housed in a giltwood frame with carved corner decorations. Sight – 17 1/4" H x 25 3/8" W. Framed – 22 1/2" H x 30 3/4" W. Late 19th/early 20th century. Provenance: The University Club of Nashville, TN; donated by Dr. and Mrs. Everette James. CONDITION: Painting in fragile condition. Overall craquelure with areas of lifting and loss. Note center sky, lower left and right quadrants. Possible infill lower margin. Blacklight photo shows several areas of inpainting across sky and at lower edge. Frame possibly later.
