Continental School oil on canvas landscape painting depicting classical ruins situated upon a hill at dusk with figures and donkeys in the foreground, scattered figures and animals in the midground, and mountains in the background. Housed in a molded giltwood frame with leaf form flourish corners. Unsigned. Sight: 12 1/2" H x 15 1/4" W. Framed: 19 5/8" H x 22 3/8" W. Early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Edward Laudermilk, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Craquelure throughout. Minor scattered retouching, primarily to upper right corner and mountains in the background. Scattered discoloration and possible dampstaining en verso of canvas.
