Grouping of six (6) carved and painted duck decoys including: one (1) miniature bufflehead drake decoy incised N. S. for Norman Scott (Back Bay, VA); one (1) drake red-breasted merganser with label on the base reading "Male merganser from Long Island, NY"; one (1) red-billed duck with branded initials to the base reading J K; one (1) canvasback drake attributed to Wisconsin; one (1) one (1) canvasback drake attributed to Maryland: and one (1) mallard hen attributed to Peterson Factory. Ranging in size from 6 1/2" H x 9" L to 7" H x 16 1/2" L. Norman Scott decoy is circa 1950s-1960s. The remaining decoys are 1st half 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Norman Scott decoy with scattered wear and rubbing to paint. 2nd & 3rd decoys with weathered patina including losses and fading to paint and wood shrinkage and losses to joints. 4th decoys with repaint and gloss added to surface. 5th decoy with gunning losses and wear to paint. 6th decoy with scattered wear to body and painted surface, head is slightly loose.
