American coin silver repousse cup or mug with militaria inscription: PRESENTED BY THE OFFICERS OF THE PRESIDENT’S MOUNTED GUARD TO QUARTERMASTER JOHN T.(?) EVANS FOR THE BEST SHOT, SEPT. 12, 1854. The circular reserve housing the inscription is surrounded by repousse oakleaf and acorn decoration, on an all-over circular stamped surface, set within beaded rims. Stamped COIN to the underside. 3 1/2 in. H, 5.58 oz troy.
PROVENANCE: The estate of Josephine Ralston Binns (Mrs. Douglas Binns), Nashville/Fayetteville TN.
CONDITION: Overall excellent condition.
