Four (4) Chinese watercolor and/or gouache paintings on silk with gilt highlights, depicting four of the Eight Immortals engaged in various activities. All with Chinese inscriptions. All appear to have been cut down from larger works and adhered to newer backings, then matted and framed under glass in giltwood frames with red accent paint. Two frames with Lyzon (Nashville) framer's stickers, en verso. Sights: 10 1/4" H x 7 3/8" W. Frames: 16 3/4" H x 13 3/4" W. Qing period, 18th century or earlier, with later framing.
PROVENANCE: Estate of Judge John Nixon, Nashville, Tennessee.
CONDITION: All items with some fraying along the edges, discoloration, and signs of creasing. All appear to have been cut down and adhered to newer backings, which have been taped to mattes. Some wear to gilt mattes.
