Eight (8) Japanese Samurai Shokai sterling silver bowls with pierced openwork decoration in various motifs, including two (2) dragon and cloud, two (2) bamboo, one (1) prunus, one (1) chrysanthemum, one (1) iris, and one (1) lily/lotus. Each stamped SAMURAI SHOKAI YOKOHAMA STERLING with S in banner mark to underside and each measures 2 3/4" H x 4 3/4" diameter. 31.43 total oz troy. First half 20th century.
CONDITION: Bowls in overall good condition with a few minor scattered dents and scattered small losses to some bamboo and floral decorations. All but one have detachable rims to allow for insertion of glass liners (one silver rim is missing). None of the glass bowl inserts are present. Not all rims fit perfectly to the bowls, but the bowls are also functional without the rims. One bamboo decorated bowl is missing its foot ring.
