- We continue to ask the questions: What can make auctions more exciting for buyers and consignors while also delivering the very best auction performance in terms of sales and profits regardless of economic conditions?
- How do we attract new bidders into the fine art and antique auction experience?
We believe we have found a solution at Case Auctions. We have studied and refined our approach to auctions over the past decade and have examined each auction to find out what worked well and what needed improving.
This effort yielded fruit as we found our improved approach consistently delivered some of the most outstanding metrics in the auction industry with our semi-annual auction totals consistently surpassing the high estimate and over 95% of the lots sold. Furthermore, we have also consistently ranked as one of the most participated auctions worldwide the weekend of our auctions.
What were the factors that contributed to the success of these sales? Several key factors are listed below and each will be explained further in future articles.
- Increasing the lots/per hour sold
- Increasing the number of lots offered in a single-day sale
- Variety of categories and price points
- Higher quality photographs and more of them
- Lot sequence strategy and tiering
- Conservative estimates
- Elimination of reserves
